Welcome to the Grand BAZ’ART 2016
“Folk art in the Philippines expresses diversity through various materials such as hardwood, capiz shells, mother of pearl, carabao horns.
Even if they lack formal training, the folk arti¬sans who use these materials to recreate altar¬pieces, church pillars, furniture and garments have never ceased to amaze me.
Their works have inspired and encouraged me to find experimental and innovative ways to make my own interpretations, while focusing on traditional skills that I have adapted in a perso¬nal quest for identity.
In my small way I’m striving to present a time¬line of certain periods of our rich cultural heri¬tage and to play a small role in helping preserve these almost extinct traditions”.
