Welcome to the Grand BAZ’ART 2016!
Pierre Amourette was born on the isle of Jersey and he set foot in France when he was 4 years old. As a teacher in Nogent-le-Rotrou, he always took an interest in the arts and he shared his passion with his students. In 1999, he proposed to them an activity inspired by the works of the sculptor Jephan de Villers and he went as far as to organise a fieldtrip to the sculptor’s studio in Belgium. The interest of the children was aroused to such an extent that they ended up making 80 sculptures. An exhibition was put together and the adventure thus began.
The Gallery Beatrice Soulié offered him an exhibition where he showed 15 ceramic works which were all sold. Religious art, maternity scenes and legends like that of Saint George slaying the dragon are the artist’s favourite themes. "I work with commonplace imagery in order to provide plenty of possible access points to as many people as possible and to elicit an emotion".
