Welcome to the Grand BAZ’ART 2016!
Born in Essaouira, a crucible of a world-renow¬ned, typically Moroccan naïve art, Mostafa Ben Malek is first and foremost a painter of the sen¬sations felt in his childhood.
The gay and lively colours and the odour of spices set the rhythm of his every day. His pain¬tings represent a multiple being, who is at once child, man and especially Woman.
His pictorial expression is evocative of sub¬jects that are taboo in the world around him, especially of sexuality, suggested through the barely sketched body of a woman, at times ten¬derly disrobed. The artist is anchored in today’s society, that he wishes were more liberated and driven by love, even if he must at times go against tradition and face the disapproving frowns of a way of life from a different century.
