Welcome to the Grand BAZ’ART 2015!
Jim Sanders is a British artist, close to primitivism and equally inspired by the religious traditions to which he was exposed in his upbringing.
After studying graphic communication and illustration, his spirit of “invention” led him to the use of recycled materials and old documents and even of stencils. The characters in his series of kakemonos – which he calls the “Solitaires” – are endowed with an almost tribal force of expression.
Despite the round traits and shapes, the abundance of black and beige lit up by shades of red emphasises a visual force that leaves none indifferent. Jim Sanders describes humans in all their vanity and reluctance to take charge of their own existence. His characters, delivered unapologetically to the eye, seem to be frozen in a perpetual rite of atonement.
