Welcoe to the Grand BAZ’ART 2015!
After a visit at Ferdinand Cheval’s Ideal Palace which introduced him to raw art, Jean Michel Chesné became a collector of antique post¬cards featuring outsider environments. Passio¬nate about American folk art, a collaborator of the magazine Gazogène, he defines himself as an ”enlightened” self-taught creator.
The black and white series of the ”Laces” was sparked off in 2009 almost by accident, as he was trying out a white ink pen on a sheet of black paper. The shapes in his drawings oscilate between carefully thought-out graphic structures and complete improvisation.
As if it were inspired by a sort of tribal wisdom, his art reconnects animals, plants and humans, in a universe that is ONE. Between the abyss and infinity, the ”onlookers” are seized, as if they were enthralled by a shaman’s ritual dance.
