ROMANIA
Maria Margos is a pure example of genuine naïve art, “untainted” by any artistic training and free from that “postcard” mushiness or the long-rehersed fake simplicity that one finds nowadays in naïve art. An artist of the Moldavian small pro¬vince, Maria lives surrounded by the colours of a still savage nature. The themes – ancestral traditions from Moldavia and daily life in the village – are far from “quaint”, in that slightly pejorative sense.
