Joseph Kurhajec was born in 1938 in Wisconsin (USA), close to the Canadian border. He divides his life between New York and the Yucatan. The artist’s quasi-mystical creations are evocative of a sort of neo-tribalism issued from an imaginary primitive civilization. The artist associates stones, horns, rope, bones and furs to conjure up the apocalyptic “images” of a bleak future, from which the stars want to protect humans before it is too late.
